Present From Nancy

In augustus 1970 verscheen het debuutalbum van de Nederlandse progressieve popgroep Supersister. Dankzij de speelse, inventieve composities en klanken, die konden wedijveren met internationale grootheden als Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention en Soft Machine, plaatste Supersister zich meteen aan de top van toenmalige Nederlandse ‘LP-groepen’ als Focus, Alquin, Solution, Earth & Fire en Golden Earring.

Supersister bestaat tegenwoordig uit het drietal Robert Jan Stips (toetsen, zang), Rinus Gerritsen (basgitaar) en Leon Klaasse (drums). Het nieuwe album Nancy Never Knew (2025) werd in de media lovend ontvangen en tijdens de clubtours van de afgelopen jaren hoorde het publiek veel nieuwe en oude nummers in een live-uitvoering. De titel van het album is een knipoog naar het debuutalbum van 55 jaar geleden.

Om dat jubileum te vieren, verschijnt een luxe uitgevoerd themaboekje (met kleurenfoto's), gewijd aan Present From Nancy én de single die eraan voorafging en een klassieker werd binnen het oeuvre van de band: ‘She Was Naked’.

August 1970 saw the release of the debut album by the Dutch progressive pop group Supersister. Thanks to their playful, inventive compositions and sounds, which could rival international artists such as Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention and Soft Machine, Supersister immediately placed themselves at the top of Dutch ‘LP groups’ such as Focus, Alquin, Solution, Earth & Fire and Golden Earring.

Today, Supersister consists of the threesome Robert Jan Stips (keyboards, vocals), Rinus Gerritsen (bass guitar) and Leon Klaasse (drums). The new album Nancy Never Knew (2025) received rave reviews in the media and during the recent club tours all audiences heard many new and classic songs in a live setting. The title of the album is a nod to the debut album released 55 years ago.

To celebrate that anniversary, a deluxe thematic booklet (with colour photos) will be published, dedicated to Present From Nancy and the single that preceded it and became a classic within the band's oeuvre: ‘She Was Naked’.

This is also a pre-publication of the forthcoming English translation of the Supersister biography (expected December 2025).
